The variety is a selection of local origin, widespread in the regions of Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, and Piedmont. The tree has good vigor and demonstrates high adaptability to hot and dry climatic conditions, surpassing some commercial varieties in terms of water metabolism.

The fruits have a thin skin, the main color of which is light green with a wine-red blush covering about 70% of the surface. Ripening occurs in the second half of September, earlier than the classic yellow Limoncella variety. The produce is characterized by a high content of phenolic compounds.
