The tree of this variety is vigorous, forming large and tall crowns. The fruits are medium-sized and round or flat-round in shape with a characteristic depression in the calyx area. The variety name originates from this morphological feature.

The variety is versatile, suitable both for fresh consumption and for culinary processing, including the preparation of juices, mousses, and baked goods. The fruits store until February. Yield is high and regular, but the variety is prone to pre-harvest fruit drop, which requires multiple pickings.

The plant possesses good hardiness. The variety has cultural and historical significance as a regional type, widespread in northern Hesse and southern Lower Saxony, and is included in the program for the conservation of fruit crop genetic resources.
