LUGLIOLA is an autochthonous variety common in Italian regions such as Tuscany. The variety name comes from the Italian word luglio (July), which reflects its belonging to the early-ripening summer variety group.

Morphological characteristics of the fruits are variable: there are both dark red apples with distinct lenticels and cream-colored flesh, and small oval fruits with yellow skin, sometimes with a pink blush. The fruits have good keeping quality and are suitable for preparing various dishes.

The variety belongs to traditional ones and has historically been cultivated in household plots. For tree canopy formation of this variety, the "vase" type is traditionally used. Precise quantitative agronomic data on tree height and disease resistance are absent in publications.
