The variety is a red mutation of the variety «Syysjuovikas». The apple fruits have a spicy and tart taste and contain a relatively low amount of sugars, which makes them suitable for making juice and cider, as well as for fresh consumption and home processing.

The storage life of harvested fruits is about three weeks. The variety shows relative resistance to fruit rot pathogens of the genus Neofabraea, which is confirmed by lower disease development index indicators in the conditions of Finland.
