The Luiken Apfel cultivar, also known as Luiken, Ludwig’s Apfel, or Ludwig, is an old cultivar of folk selection. In specialized literature, it is mentioned in the context of regional horticulture in Germany, particularly in Württemberg.

The crown of trees of this cultivar has a tendency to grow predominantly upward. The cultivar is demanding of climatic and soil conditions, which has limited its distribution outside of German regions.

In 19th-century literature, the cultivar was mentioned in lists for obtaining seedlings, while in some publications of that period, it was characterized as unsuitable for use as a quality rootstock.
