The variety is part of the apple genetic resources collection in Asturias and is used in the SERIDA breeding program. The primary use of the fruit is for cider production.
The variety is characterized as an effective pollinator, ensuring high quality and regularity of yield in commercial orchards. Pollen germination studies in a 15% sucrose solution showed a high germination capacity, reaching 95%.
Breeding work with this variety is aimed at reducing the biennial bearing characteristic of local apple varieties.
