The variety originates from the city of Veurne in Flanders and has been cultivated since the beginning of the XIX century. The tree has medium vigor. Genetically, the variety is identified with local varieties known as Melkappel and Wasappel.

The fruits have yellowish flesh, belong to dessert varieties, and are also suitable for culinary processing and juice production. The consumption period of the fruits lasts from October to February.
