The Rosa Romana apple is a local landrace with a history in central-northern Italy spanning centuries. The tree has medium vigor and a semi-spreading crown; fruiting occurs mainly on spurs and mixed branches. The variety shows moderate resistance to scab.

Fruits ripen in October, have a flattened shape and yellow-green skin with red stripes. The flesh is firm, fine-grained, and aromatic, with a sweet-and-sour taste. The fruits are characterized by high keeping quality and are traditionally used both fresh and in cooking, including the production of fruit mustard (mostarda).
