The variety is traditional to the Galicia region, Spain. In scientific literature, the name is sometimes associated with the Grey Rennet variety, however, genetic studies indicate the possibility of a distinct local genotype. Harvesting of fruits is carried out in October.

The fruits possess a distinct aroma, are characterized by good storage capacity, and are suitable for fresh consumption. The variety is highly productive but partially self-incompatible, therefore it is recommended to plant trees of other varieties for pollination.

Samples of the variety are included in the genetic collections of the Agricultural Research Center in Mabegondo. Specific data on tree height and resistance to specific diseases are absent in published sources.
