The variety has ancient origins and is distributed in the mountainous and foothill regions of Italy. The fruits are of universal purpose, suitable for fresh consumption and culinary use. Due to its ability to be stored for a long time during the winter period, the variety has become widely distributed.

The appearance of the fruits varies depending on the ecotype: the skin can be either dark red with lenticels or smooth yellow with a pink blush. The cream-colored flesh is characterized by a crunchy texture, juiciness, and a sweet-and-sour taste.

The plant is productive, hardy to cold, and less fertile soils. Low sensitivity to common apple diseases such as scab, powdery mildew, and aphids is noted. Existing local ecotypes cause insignificant variations in fruit characteristics.
