J-OH-A is a dwarfing rootstock developed as an alternative to the widely used M.9 rootstock. During comparative trials, trees grafted onto this rootstock demonstrated restricted vigor comparable to M.9 clones.
A characteristic feature of the rootstock is a tendency toward intensive root sucker formation. Due to an insufficiently strong root system, trees on J-OH-A require additional support in the orchard. Yield performance on this rootstock may vary depending on the scion.
