Genetically, the rootstock is a hybrid of M9 and the Czech variety «Anýzové». The object is included in international genetic resource databases and is used in UPOV test guidelines for apple rootstocks.
A characteristic feature of the rootstock is its ability to easily form callus at grafting sites or mechanical damage. Unlike vigorous rootstocks, J-TE-D has specific growth characteristics and anatomical structure of the root system.
