The Antares variety was registered in a number of European breeding lists in the period from the 1980s to the 1990s. At present, it is absent from modern manufacturer catalogs as current seed material and is considered primarily as a historical variety or genetic resource.

Given that the variety is obsolete, detailed characteristics such as yield indicators or resistance to modern disease strains are not provided in current technical bulletins. The variety was intended for use as a forage crop for hay, haylage, or grazing.
