The variety was obtained as a result of crossing and backcrossing the low-yielding wild species Medicago gaetula with Saranac and Canadian Poly varieties. It was intended for use as a forage crop.
The variety is characterized by relatively low resistance to Verticillium wilt and susceptibility to Phytophthora root rot. Dry matter yield is slightly lower than that of the standard variety Europe, with comparable protein content. The variety did not gain widespread distribution.
