The Denta variety is a white sweetclover with a reduced coumarin content. The low level of this substance prevents the formation of toxic dicoumarol during hay storage, which makes this variety preferable for fodder purposes compared to conventional varieties of the crop.
The plant is a biennial legume and possesses characteristics typical of the species, including drought tolerance and winter hardiness. Morphologically, the variety is characterized by coarse stems and trifoliate leaves with serrated edges.
