The plant has a dense bushy form and reaches a height of 30–60 cm. Young leaves are colored wine-red or purple, which changes to a dark blue-green shade upon maturation. In late spring and early summer, the shrub blooms with small white flowers.

The cultivar possesses high drought tolerance and winter hardiness within USDA zones 6–9. The plant is rarely affected by diseases and pests, and is not prone to aggressive seed propagation. It easily adapts to different types of well-drained soils.

Used in landscape design as a ground cover plant, for forming borders, or for container gardening. The plant contains toxic components; the fruits are not edible.
