The BH 9 variety belongs to the Burley tobacco type and is intended for the needs of the tobacco industry. In production practice, the variety was used in Croatia in parallel with the BH 4 variety.

During the breeding process and seed production of the variety, control methods were applied, including the use of cytoplasmic male sterility to obtain hybrid seeds.
