Plants of this group reach a height of 1.8–2 meters and mature 60–70 days after planting. The leaves are medium or large in size and, during the curing process, acquire a color ranging from light golden to brown. Individual varieties possess resistance to black root rot, tobacco mosaic, Fusarium wilt, and drought.

A characteristic technological feature is air curing, which can take up to eight weeks. Depending on the variety, the taste varies from nutty notes in light varieties to “earthy” or “cigar-like” undertones in dark ones. The tobacco is used in cigarette blends, as well as in the production of pipe, cigar, chewing, and snuff tobacco.
