The variety belongs to the Burley group and is used in industrial production. The plant is characterized by high yield and a specific bush shape with a figured structure resembling a spruce.

Bursana was actively used in scientific research as an object for studying the interaction with the parasitic plant broomrape. The genetic material of the variety was used in breeding work to create resistance to Potato virus Y, although this use sometimes affected the productivity and quality of the tobacco.
