The variety belongs to the large-leaf Burley tobacco type. For a long period, the variety was used in research practice as a standard for evaluating new breeding lines and tobacco hybrids.

The growing season of the variety is too long compared to modern requirements, exceeding the indices of new lines by 5–11 days. Insufficient leaf width in the middle tier is also noted.

According to the results of comparative trials, modern experimental lines surpass this variety in dry leaf yield by 7–28% and in the percentage of first-class raw material yield.
