The variety belongs to the dark air-cured tobacco group. It was created during a research program aimed at developing hybrid forms characterized by rapid growth, high yield, and reduced susceptibility to bacterial leaf spot.
In scientific studies, the TNSB1 line was examined in the context of the nicotine-to-nornicotine conversion process. In experimental work, this line showed high nicotine conversion rates, which is used in breeding to reduce the level of tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNA) in the raw material.
