The Taja variety is used as a forage crop and demonstrates good biomass productivity. One of its key characteristics is increased resistance to moist growing conditions compared to other Onobrychis viciifolia varieties.

Plants of this variety enter into symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria in root nodules. The variety is actively used in research, including crop rotation trials for nematode control and the study of the crop's genetic diversity.
