The Matra variety is a perennial forage crop. The plant is characterized by high adaptability to arid conditions and growth on calcareous soils, and it also possesses pronounced winter hardiness.
In agriculture, the variety is used as a forage crop for establishing pastures and hayfields, where it can be cultivated both in pure stands and in mixtures with grasses. Due to its nitrogen-fixing ability, Matra is also used as a green manure crop.
