In genetic collections, the name Magic refers to a rice specimen of Romanian origin, characterized by a thousand kernel weight of approximately 9.5 g and used primarily in breeding research.
A landrace from the Indian state of Assam, known as Boka Chaul or Komal Chaul, is called magic due to its ability to become edible after soaking in water without boiling. It is a semi-glutinous rice with an amylose content of 12–17%, grown using traditional methods in the Brahmaputra River valley.
