The variety is an autochthonous pigmented rice cultivar. After husking, the grains have a characteristic orange color due to the properties of the pericarp. The plant possesses antioxidant properties.

In cooking, the rice is valued for maintaining the integrity of its structure after boiling and for its specific aroma. The variety is intended for preparing side dishes, rice salads, and pilaf.
