Purple Duke is a bush bean variety with a height of 30–45 cm. The growing period to technical maturity is 41–50 days.
The pods are bright purple, fleshy, and 15–18 cm long. When boiled for 2–3 minutes, the pods lose their purple color and turn green. The variety is used as a vegetable crop for fresh consumption.
