The Jauniai variety is characterized by high productivity. During competitive variety trials, the average dry matter yield of green mass was 8.7 t/ha, which exceeds the performance of the standard variety Klonis by 4.8%.

The variety is used as a standard for comparison of maturity dates. It is a forage crop intended for haymaking and pasture use.
