The variety was bred based on selection from high-yielding samples collected in the northern regions of Finland. The plant belongs to the northern type, characterized by a slower growth rate compared to southern varieties and a relatively weak ability to regrow after mowing.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness, which allows it to be used in conditions of northern agriculture, including Lapland. The plant is sensitive to day length and requires about 10 weeks of vernalization to flower. In terms of digestible dry matter, it can outperform other varieties at the second cut.
