The plant is a selection of Picea glauca. The variety forms a dense, regular conical crown and is distinguished by a slow growth rate, reaching about 1 meter in height by 10 years with an annual growth of 5–6 cm.

The needles are thin and short, densely covering the shoots. The color of the needles in spring and summer is light green, but when the temperature drops to about 0°C, it acquires a golden-copper hue. The most pronounced golden coloration of young growth is observed when grown in sunny areas.

The variety prefers sunny locations and well-drained soils. The plant shows sensitivity to soil drying and requires moderate watering; it loses color intensity in deep shade.
