The plant belongs to the "snow" pea (mangetout) type. Plant height ranges from 60 to 120 cm, while the Oregon Sugar Pod II variety is characterized by a more compact form of about 70–75 cm. Flowers are large, white. Pods are flat, light green, about 10 cm long, and often form in pairs.
Technical maturity occurs 55–65 days after sowing. The variety possesses resistance to Fusarium wilt and mosaic virus, and its improved version, Oregon Sugar Pod II, is also resistant to powdery mildew. Due to the plant height, the use of supports is recommended, with the exception of the semi-dwarf variety.
The variety was obtained as a result of breeding that included crossing the Wando, Geneva 168, and Dwarf Gray Sugar varieties. The fruits are valued for their sweet taste and crisp texture, which is maintained when harvesting pods before significant seed enlargement.
