Welland possesses high resistance to pea enation mosaic virus (PEMV), powdery mildew, and Fusarium wilt (races 1 and 2). The variety demonstrates good field resistance to downy mildew, is tolerant to root rots, and possesses standing ability, which facilitates harvesting.
The produce belongs to the category of standard-caliber peas with seeds uniform in shape and color. The variety was obtained as a result of crossing lines OSU B547-29 and Sancho.
