Real Fino is used primarily as a rootstock for apricot in regions of Spain, such as Murcia and Andalusia. Trees grafted onto this rootstock are characterized by vigorous growth and good affinity with a wide range of cultivars.
In scientific research, this genotype is often considered in the context of studying susceptibility to Plum pox virus and sensitivity to the pest Capnodis tenebrionis. The influence of the rootstock on fruit quality is expressed primarily in the potential correction of soluble solids concentration in the scion.
