The variety was bred at the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia based on genetic material from the mountainous regions of Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the northern zones of the crop's growing area.
The plant belongs to self-sterile varieties, requiring the presence of several trees of different varieties or seedlings on the site to ensure pollination. The trees and their flower buds are sensitive to spring frosts and temperature fluctuations in the winter period.
