The Tyrinthou variety tree is characterized by rapid growth and a wide, spreading crown. The variety is self-fertile and characterized by early flowering, which is why it is recommended to be grown in favorable climatic zones.

The fruits are large, round or oval in shape. The fruit skin is yellow with the presence of a red blush; the flesh is firm, light yellow in color, and moderately juicy. The purpose of the fruit is fresh consumption.

The variety is susceptible to the Plum pox virus (sharka). It is a traditional variety used as a genetic resource in breeding programs and comparative studies of adaptability.
