Variety description

10 August 2026

The term Acquaiola denotes not a specific breeding variety, but a historical category of very early sweet cherries, contrasted with groups having firm and crunchy flesh. These forms are the result of traditional folk selection, predominantly in Tuscany, and are currently included in biodiversity registers.

Fruits of the described group typically have a round shape and a light, pale-red color with a whitish hue. The flesh is characterized by a soft, tender, and very juicy consistency, with a sweetish or bland taste. Due to their softness, the fruits do not possess high keeping quality or transportability and are intended for fresh consumption.
