The variety is an ancient local Italian sweet cherry variety, for which information on its origin is unavailable. The name may coincide with a camellia variety, which requires differentiation of data when searching for information.

Scientific research has determined the self-incompatibility genotype of the variety, which belongs to the S13S16 group. This indicator is used when selecting pollinator pairs. The variety is included in collections of autochthonous fruit crops; however, systematized data on vigor, maturity group, disease resistance, and fruit characteristics are absent in open publications.
