The variety is a local ecotype selected from seedlings in the Val Grue valley. The trees are characterized by high vigor and a tall crown, which complicates harvesting. The variety is included in a biodiversity conservation initiative due to the threat of extinction.
The fruits are medium-sized, round, and have a bright red glossy skin with a long peduncle. The flesh is characterized by high firmness and a crunchy texture. The taste is sweet and persistent. Fruit susceptibility to cracking is rated as low, within the 0–5% range.
The variety is considered ideal for processing, as the fruits retain their shape and structure during culinary preparation. It is used for preparing cherries in alcohol, fillings for chocolates, as well as for creating jams, syrups, and liqueurs.
