Variety description

10 August 2026

The Erika tree has an ovoid crown, reaching a height of 15–20 meters and a width of 10–15 meters. The variety is a descendant of the Rube variety, presumably obtained from a cross of Rube × Steckmanns Bunte.

The variety is not self-fertile; for cross-pollination, varieties such as Schneiders Späte Knorpel are recommended. The red fruits ripen from June to July. The variety is used for fresh consumption, processing, and for ornamental purposes.

In scientific research, the variety is considered in the context of S-genotyping to determine incompatibility groups, which must be taken into account when planning plantings.
