The tree is of medium vigor, forms a naturally shaped crown, and is characterized by winter hardiness in USDA zones 5–7 and productivity. Fruits are large, heart-shaped; the skin is yellow with a bright red blush.

The flesh is of the «bigarreau» type, firm and sweet. The variety is considered one of the best for canning and maraschino cherry production, as the fruits retain their shape well during processing. It possesses resistance to a number of diseases, however, it is sensitive to cracking under high humidity conditions.

The variety is self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinators, while the variety Bing is not suitable for this purpose. Genetically, it is an important historical clone that has been used in many breeding programs and served as the basis for creating the first genetic map of the sweet cherry.
