Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a folk one, originating from the Slovak village of Medné and known since the second half of the 18th century. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth at a young age and forms a large dense crown with skeletal branches directed upwards. Fruits are for general use, medium or large in size, with firm juicy flesh.

The variety is self-incompatible and requires cross-pollination. Fructification is high and regular. The plant possesses resistance to Monilinia; fruits are slightly susceptible to cracking and infestation by the cherry fruit fly. Frost hardiness of the wood and flowers is rated as medium.
