This name does not refer to a single bred variety, but to a set of folk sweet cherry varieties cultivated in the province of Rome for over a hundred years. The trees are characterized by significant height, reaching 10–25 meters.

The fruits of the local varieties have a diameter of 15–20 mm, shiny skin, and pulp in shades ranging from pink to wine-colored. The harvest ripens between May and July. The produce is used fresh, for preservation, and for the preparation of local beverages.
