The variety is an endemic cultivar and part of the region's historical heritage, included in the Ciliegia di Lari protected geographical indication list. Due to the delicacy of the fruits and thin skin, the variety is of limited suitability for long-distance transport.

The fruits possess excellent flavor and aromatic properties, making them valued in processing, particularly for jam production. Harvesting in the growing area traditionally takes place between May and June. The Tuscany region Germplasm Bank is responsible for the conservation of this endangered variety.
