The Paulus variety, also known as Pál, is a mid-season sweet cherry with fruits ripening from June 10–12 until the end of the month. The tree has moderate to strong vigor and forms an upright conical crown. The variety enters bearing early and is characterized by high yield.
Fruits are large, with a weight of 7–9 g and a diameter of 26–27 mm, having a slightly flattened spherical shape. The skin is shiny, dark burgundy, the flesh is firm, dark red, with a sweet-sour taste and a small stone. The variety is self-fertile and not prone to overcropping, which prevents fruit size reduction.
The variety is susceptible to Monilinia and necrotic leaf spot, which requires preventative measures. The plant adapts to various soil types, but is not recommended for planting in areas with cold air stagnation.
