The variety was developed at the Summerland Research Station in British Columbia. It belongs to the fruit crop category and is characterized by high productivity. The bearing type is self-fertile.

The fruits have a garnet color and firm, hard flesh. The variety possesses resistance to cracking; harvesting is possible without the pedicel.

Data on ripening dates in publications are contradictory: in a number of sources the variety is described as late, in others — as early, ripening 10 days after the Burlat variety.
