Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree is vigorous with a spreading crown and drooping branches. Fruits are large, weighing from 8 to 12 g, and have a round or heart-shaped form. At full maturity, the skin and flesh acquire a dark red, almost black color. The flesh is firm, juicy, with a sweet dessert taste.

The variety possesses good winter hardiness, withstanding temperature drops down to -28°C, and is resistant to fruit cracking during rain. It is self-infertile; for fruiting, it requires pollinator varieties such as Van and Hedelfingen.

The variety is for universal use; fruits are consumed fresh, as well as used for canning, making juices, compotes, and freezing. Starking Hardy Giant is often used in breeding work as a parent form.
