Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a chance seedling discovered around 1850 in the Stuttgart area. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth in its youth and forms a broad, spherical or upright crown. The plant has high vitality and adaptability; however, it is susceptible to bacterial canker in soils with poor permeability, while showing relative resistance to moniliosis.

The fruits are large, weighing up to 13 g, heart-shaped or round-oval, and turn a dark red, almost black color when mature. The flesh is firm, juicy, and has a dessert taste. The variety belongs to the crisp-fleshed sweet cherry group (Bigarreau). The fruits are prone to cracking during rainfall at the ripening stage, but due to the firmness of the flesh, they handle transport well.

The variety is versatile and suitable for both fresh consumption and processing into juices, compotes, liqueurs, and candied fruits. It is self-incompatible and requires the presence of pollinator varieties that bloom at similar times.
