Prunedda bianca is considered an ancient local variety, representing a seedling of unknown origin, which was historically cultivated in the territory from Gargano to Salento. In classification, the variety belongs to the myrobalan group.

The fruits are very small, having an average mass of 15–20 g, with a spheroidal symmetrical shape and a rounded apex. The skin is smooth, thin, with a waxy bloom, yellow-green in color, covered with prominent lenticels and has a noticeable red suture.

The variety was traditionally used for home processing and drying, rather than for fresh market sales, which is why it has lost its importance in commercial fruit growing over time.
