The variety originates from the vicinity of Monreale in the province of Palermo and represents a local type of cherry plum. Its fruits are characterized as edible, however, detailed agronomic descriptions of morphological traits or economic characteristics are absent.

The variety is used in biotechnological research, specifically for developing in vitro germplasm conservation techniques using slow-growth technologies under low-temperature conditions. At present, the variety is not commercial and is being studied as a local genetic resource.
