The fruits of the Golden Esperen variety, also known as Drap d'Or d'Esperen, resemble Mirabelle plums in terms of their taste qualities. The variety received its name due to its external similarity to the Drap d'Or plum variety.
The trees are characterized as large and productive; however, their foliage exhibits sensitivity to fungal diseases, in particular to shot-hole disease. In scientific publications, the variety is mentioned in the context of research on male sterility in plums.
