Pixy is a dwarf or semi-dwarf rootstock originating from the Prunus insititia group. Trees grafted onto this rootstock reach a height of 2.5–4 meters, which is approximately twice as compact as those using the St. Julien A rootstock.
The rootstock promotes early bearing and high productivity. Fruits of grafted varieties often feature increased sugar content. The plants possess resistance to bacterial canker, anchor well in the soil, and produce practically no root suckers.
Due to their compact size and heavy crop load, trees on Pixy rootstock require support. The rootstock requires good soil conditions and is sensitive to drought, which necessitates regular irrigation.
